Angela Ortiz

Graduate Student Mental Health Counseling Intern, Bilingual Counselor

Angela is a Mental Health Master Level Graduate Student Intern. She is a certified Crisis Worker through the American Association of Suicidology and has a certification for Applied Suicide Skills Training. She is currently in the second year of her graduate program at Florida State University, working towards her Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Angela is also bilingual. Therefore, she is open to providing counseling services in Spanish and English.

Before starting her Master program, Angela has been working and volunteering for the 211 Hotline of the Big Bend area since 2018. In 2019, she was the lead Bilingual counselor. Under this role, she would offer information and referrals and short-term crisis counseling to callers. In addition, her focus was providing counseling to pregnant women and also helping them find information on prenatal care services. Over the summer of 2021, she also interned at Better Living Solutions, an eating disorder recovery center providing group psychotherapy and meal supports to clients.

Angela’s goal for therapy is to guide you to discover the best version of yourself, so you can work towards a holistic life that aligns with your true values. She believes that all clients are deserving of compassion, empathy, and acceptance regardless of their circumstances. As your counselor, Angela would provide you with a comfortable and welcoming space to nurture your growth and healing. Angela is interested in working with culturally and ethnically diverse clients. She believes that psychological distress can go beyond interpersonal relationships and be influenced by societal barriers.
