Nichol Florit

I am a graduate-level student, mental health professional with over 20 years of experience serving diverse, at-risk, and vulnerable populations. My academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Psychology from Rasmussen University (2013–2017), and I am currently completing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University.
My career spans more than two decades in social services, where I’ve had the honor of serving as Executive Director of the Lee County Homeless Shelter (H.O.M.E.) and as one of two Outreach Coordinators for Lee County. Throughout my journey, I have worked alongside numerous nonprofit organizations and have supported Vietnam veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of human trafficking, those in recovery from substance use, and individuals living with disabilities. I also dedicated seven years as a career counselor and community skills trainer helping individuals with varying abilities build independence and confidence.
My therapeutic approach is supportive, direct, and goal-focused. I help clients develop healthier coping strategies, greater self-awareness, and practical tools for real-life change. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while integrating Solution-Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), along with other evidence-based interventions. Every session is tailored to meet each client where they are and guide them toward the life they want to build.
My mission is simple: to empower healing, restore hope, and help people reclaim their voice and direction.
