Marta Matuz

Master’s Level Graduate Student in Mental Health & Doctoral Candidate

File

I am currently a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University and hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Walden University. I am also completing my doctoral degree in Forensic Psychology, where my research focuses on stress, trauma, emotional experiences, and memory. My educational and life experiences have shaped a deep passion for understanding human behavior, emotional resilience, and the impact life experiences can have on mental health and relationships.

Originally from Hungary, I immigrated to the United States nearly 20 years ago. Adjusting to a new culture and rebuilding life in a different country gave me a unique understanding of identity, cultural adjustment, major life transitions, and the emotional challenges many individuals experience throughout life. These experiences strengthened my empathy, compassion, and commitment to creating a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment for clients from diverse backgrounds.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where clients feel emotionally safe, heard, respected, and understood. My goal is to help individuals better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, improve relationships, and navigate difficult periods of life with greater confidence and self-awareness. I strive to create a warm and supportive space where clients can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, stressors, and personal goals.

My approach integrates person-centered therapy with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), focusing on understanding each client’s unique experiences, strengths, emotional patterns, and goals for growth and healing.
